Important Info on Wild Yam

At this time, there are no clearly established interactions with this supplement (see Wild Yam Drug Interactions).
Wild yam seems to be relatively safe for many people, especially when used appropriately. However, some people may be more likely to experience problems. Therefore, you should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking it medicinally if you have:
- A blood clotting disorder
- A hormonally-sensitive condition, such as:
- Endometriosis
- Uterine fibroids
- Breast, ovarian, or uterine cancer
- Any allergies, including allergies to foods, dyes, or preservatives.
Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are:
- Pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant (see Wild Yam and Pregnancy)
- Breastfeeding (see Wild Yam and Breastfeeding).
Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about all other medicines you are taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
