Premphase (Cont.)

Alternatives to Premphase

Premphase is not the only available method of relieving menopausal symptoms. Other options include:

  • Coping strategies (such as wearing lighter clothes for hot flashes or using a vaginal lubricant for dryness)
  • Other medications
  • Natural remedies, including herbal supplements and "bioidentical" hormone replacement.

(Click Premphase Alternatives for more information about other menopause treatment options.)

What If I Take an Overdose of Premphase?

Women who take too much Premphase may experience the following symptoms:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Vaginal bleeding.

(Click Premphase Overdose for more information.)

How Should Premphase Be Stored?

Premphase tablets should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. The tablets should be stored in their original dispenser packaging; this packaging helps you take the tablets in the correct order. Keep Premphase and all other medications out of the reach of children.

What If I Miss a Dose of Premphase?

If you do not take your Premphase as scheduled, take your missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose.

Strengths of Premphase

Premphase comes in one strength. The first 14 tablets in each pack (the maroon tablets) contain 0.625 mg of conjugated estrogens. The last 14 tablets (the light blue tablets) contain 0.625 mg of conjugated estrogens combined with 5 mg of medroxyprogesterone acetate.
