Minivelle Drug Interactions

Taking certain medications while using Minivelle may lead to drug interactions in certain cases. Some of these combinations could increase your risk of side effects or decrease the effectiveness of the medications. Barbiturates, seizure medications, and even grapefruit juice are some of the products that your healthcare provider will need to know about before you can use Minivelle.

An Introduction to Interactions With Minivelle

Minivelle™ (estradiol patch) may react with a number of other products. Some of the drugs that can interact with Minivelle include but are not limited to:
 
  • Barbiturates, such as:
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
     
  • Rifamycin antibiotics, including rifabutin (Mycobutin®), rifampin (Rifadin®), and rifapentine (Priftin®)
 
  • Various antifungal medications or antibiotics, such as:
    • Clarithromycin (Biaxin®)
    • Erythromycin (Ery-Tab®)
    • Isoniazid (Nydrazid®)
    • Itraconazole (Sporanox®)
    • Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
    • Miconazole
    • Telithromycin (Ketek®).
