Minivelle Dosage

The recommended Minivelle dosage usually calls for one patch to be applied to the skin twice a week. However, the amount of medicine your healthcare provider recommends will depend on how you respond to the drug, other medical conditions you have, and other factors. It is usually advised to use the lowest amount for the shortest period of time.

An Introduction to Dosing With Minivelle

The dose of Minivelle™ (estradiol patch) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:

  • How you respond to the drug
  • Other medical conditions you may have.

As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

What Is the Recommended Minivelle Dosage?

It is typically recommended that this medication be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible period of time. However, the most effective dose, and how long it should be used, can vary considerably from one woman to the next.

For most women, the recommended starting Minivelle dose for treating menopause symptoms is one 0.0375-mg patch applied twice a week. If necessary, your healthcare provider may increase this amount. It is recommended that attempts to stop this medication, or decrease the dose if you are using a higher amount, be made every three to six months.

If you still have a uterus (if you have not had a hysterectomy), your healthcare provider may recommend that you use Minivelle cyclically, such as using it for three weeks, followed by a one-week break. In most cases, this causes regular, menstrual-like bleeding.

If you have had a hysterectomy, your healthcare provider will probably recommend that you use Minivelle continuously, without any breaks. If you still have a uterus, it is recommended that you take a progestin medication along with Minivelle to help prevent cancer of the lining of the uterus.
