Vivelle-Dot Drug Information

Vivelle-Dot® (estradiol patch) is approved for the following uses:
 
  • Prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at significant risk for it
  • Treatment of menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal irritation or dryness
  • Treatment of estrogen deficiency in younger women whose ovaries do not produce enough estrogen or who have had their ovaries surgically removed.

This prescription product is the smallest estrogen patch currently available. It is generally well tolerated; however, as with any medicine, side effects are possible. In studies, common reactions included headaches and breast tenderness, among others.
 
Before using Vivelle-Dot, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on any other drugs you are taking, including vitamins and supplements, as well as any allergies you may have, including to medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you have any other medical conditions, such as heart disease, cancer, or diabetes.
