Osphena Medication Information

When used for treating painful sexual intercourse in postmenopausal women, OsphenaTM (ospemifene) helps to relieve vaginal dryness, itching, and pain that can occur with hormonal changes from menopause.

Although this medication may be effective at relieving painful intercourse, not everyone can use it. Information on Osphena should be discussed with your healthcare provider before starting treatment to minimize your risk for certain complications. For instance, women who have had a recent heart attack or stroke may not be able to safely use this medicine.

Osphena comes as a tablet that is taken once a day with food. Some people who take this medicine will develop side effects, such as hot flushes, vaginal discharge, and muscle spasms.
