Activella HRT Information
Activella® (estradiol/norethindrone) is a drug prescribed for the treatment of vaginal dryness and itching, as well as hot flashes. It is also approved for the prevention of osteoporosis. As a type of hormone replacement therapy (HRT), it is given to postmenopausal women who have not had a hysterectomy. It comes in tablet form and works by replacing the estrogen the body no longer produces.
Prior to taking this drug, tell your healthcare provider if you have a history of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, or any other medical condition, as this information will help him or her decide if Activella is the right kind of HRT for you. Most women tolerate this product well, but side effects can include breast pain and vaginal bleeding, among other things.
