Generic Menest

There is currently no generic Menest available in the U.S. Although the patents for this medication expired long ago, no drug companies have chosen to manufacture a generic version of the product. A lack of profitability may be the reason why companies have not created generic Menest.

 

Menest Generic: An Overview

Menest® (esterified estrogens) is a prescription estrogen hormone replacement medication. It is approved for the following uses:
 
  • Treating menopausal symptoms, such as vaginal dryness and hot flashes
  • Relieving the symptoms of certain cancers (in both men and women) that have spread throughout the body
  • Replacing hormones in younger women whose ovaries do not produce enough estrogen.
     
Menest tablets are made by Monarch Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a division of King Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Although the patents for Menest have long expired, there are no generic versions of Menest approved in the United States.
 

Why Isn't Generic Menest Available?

It is not entirely clear why there are no generic versions of Menest. There are no unexpired patents for this medication. Most likely, it would not be profitable enough for a manufacturer to make a generic version of Menest.
 
It is possible that there may never be any generic versions of Menest. At this point, generic Menest is not predicted to become available any time soon.
