Menopause Home > Minivelle Uses

Is It Safe for Children and Teens to Use Minivelle?

Minivelle is generally not used in children or teens. Discuss the risks and benefits of using this product with your child's healthcare provider.

Off-Label Minivelle Uses

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend this product for something other than menopause symptoms. This is called an "off-label" use. At one point, hormone replacement therapy was used off-label for preventing heart disease and dementia, such as Alzheimer's disease, but these are no longer considered legitimate off-label uses.

Sometimes, hormones are used to promote youthfulness. Again, this is not generally accepted as a legitimate off-label use for Minivelle.

Some older estrogen products are approved for preventing osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. In general, estrogen products that are approved recently, such as Minivelle, are not licensed for this use, as estrogen therapy is generally no longer recommended for osteoporosis prevention.
