Menopause Home > Premarin Drug Information

Premarin® (conjugated estrogens) is a hormone medication approved for many uses, such as:
  • Treating menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness
  • Preventing osteoporosis in postmenopausal women
  • Replacing hormones in younger women whose ovaries do not produce enough estrogen
  • Reducing the symptoms of certain cancers (in both men and women) that have spread throughout the body.
Premarin tablets can be taken continuously (every single day, with no breaks) or cyclically (with periodic breaks every once in a while).
It’s a good idea to discuss the prescribing information for Premarin with your healthcare provider before beginning treatment with this drug. For instance, you may not be able to use this product if you are taking certain medications, have certain allergies, or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
