Menopause Home > Climara Patch Information

Available in the form of a patch, Climara® (estradiol patch) is a prescription hormone replacement medication. It is approved for the following uses:
  • Treating menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes, night sweats, or vaginal dryness
  • Replacing hormones in younger women whose ovaries do not produce enough estrogen or who have had their ovaries removed
  • Preventing osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
The patch is applied to the skin and is changed once a week. Before starting treatment, it's important to review the drug's safety information. The Climara patch may not be suitable for everyone, so make sure your healthcare provider is aware if you have any other medical condition, such as heart disease or a history of cancer, or are taking any other type of medicine, including nonprescription products, herbal supplements, or vitamins.
