Jinteli Dosage

When treating menopausal symptoms or preventing osteoporosis, the standard dose of Jinteli is one tablet taken once daily. Because Jinteli is only available in one strength, it may not be the best option for some women who need a lower dosage. Every three to six months, your doctor will reevaluate your need to take Jinteli if you are taking it for relief of menopausal symptoms.

An Introduction to Your Dosage of Jinteli

The dose of Jinteli™ (norethindrone acetate/ethinyl estradiol) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:

  • How you respond to Jinteli
  • The severity of your menopause symptoms
  • Other medical conditions you may have.

As always, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Jinteli Dosing for Menopause Symptoms or Osteoporosis Prevention

Jinteli is a generic version of femhrt®. femhrt comes in two different strengths:

  • femhrt 0.5/2.5 -- 0.5 mg of norethindrone acetate and 2.5 mcg (0.0025 mg) of ethinyl estradiol per tablet
  • femhrt 1/5 -- 1 mg of norethindrone acetate and 5 mcg (0.005 mg) of ethinyl estradiol per tablet.

Jinteli is only available in the higher strength (Jinteli 1/5); it is not yet available in the lower strength. Because this medication should generally be taken at the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time for hormone replacement therapy, Jinteli may not be the best choice for some women.

The recommended Jinteli dosage for treating menopause symptoms or for preventing osteoporosis is one tablet once daily.

When taking Jinteli, you will not have a regular monthly period, although you may experience bleeding and spotting, especially at first. This usually goes away over time. If you experience persistent or bothersome bleeding or spotting while taking Jinteli, let your healthcare provider know.

If you are taking Jinteli for menopausal symptoms, your healthcare provider should reevaluate your need to take this medicine every three to six months, and you should take it only as long as necessary.
