Femhrt Alternatives
There are several femhrt alternatives available if the medication is causing bothersome side effects or is not adequately controlling your menopause symptoms. In these cases, alternatives can include other medications, non-drug treatments, or natural remedies. Femhrt® (norethindrone acetate/ethinyl estradiol) is a prescription hormone replacement medication. It is most often used to treat menopause symptoms, although it is also approved for osteoporosis prevention in postmenopausal women. For most women, femhrt works well and does not cause significant side effects. However, as with all medicines, femhrt may not adequately control your symptoms or may cause dangerous or bothersome side effects. Also, for some women, the risks of taking femhrt may outweigh the potential benefits. Fortunately, there are several alternatives to femhrt for menopause treatment, including:
- Natural remedies
- Other conventional medications
- Coping strategies.
Natural Remedies as Femhrt Alternatives
Many women choose to use natural remedies as alternatives to prescription medications for menopause treatment. These remedies include:
- Acupuncture
- Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (also known as natural hormone replacement therapy)
- Herbal supplements
- Phytoestrogens (so-called plant estrogens).
At this time, there is not enough scientific evidence to determine whether these therapies are beneficial. In addition, there is insufficient information available to prove whether these therapies are as safe as or safer than the conventional medications.
