Drug Interactions With Estropipate Vaginal Cream

Several different medications may cause drug interactions with estropipate vaginal cream, including protease inhibitors, thyroid medications, cyclosporine, and certain antifungals or antibiotics. These potentially negative interactions can increase your risk of developing side effects or reduce the effectiveness of the medications. To prevent interactions with estropipate vaginal cream, tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking.

 

An Overview of Drug Interactions With Estropipate Vaginal Cream

Estropipate vaginal cream (Ogen® Vaginal Cream) can potentially interact with several medicines, even though it is not taken by mouth. Like other estrogens, the estrogen in estropipate vaginal cream is absorbed into the bloodstream and can lead to drug interactions. Some of the medicines that may lead to drug interactions with estropipate vaginal cream include:
 
  • Certain antifungals or antibiotics, such as:
 
    • Clarithromycin (Biaxin®)
    • Erythromycin (Ery-Tab®)
    • Isoniazid (Nydrazid®)
    • Itraconazole (Sporanox®)
    • Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
    • Miconazole
    • Telithromycin (Ketek®)
 
  • Cyclosporine (Gengraf®, Neoral®, Sandimmune®)
  • Protease inhibitors, such as:
 
 
  • Thyroid medications, such as:
