Estring Warnings and Precautions

To help ensure a safe and effective treatment process with Estring, warnings and precautions should be reviewed with your healthcare provider. For instance, this medication is not suitable for everyone, and you may not be able to safely use it if you have high cholesterol, diabetes, or uterine fibroids. Estring warnings and precautions also apply to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Estring: What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to using Estring^®(estradiol vaginal ring) if you have:

Cancer of any kind (or if you have had cancer in the past)
Unexplained abnormal vaginal bleeding
High blood pressure (hypertension)
High triglycerides
High cholesterol
A history of blood clots
A history of heart attack or stroke
Heart disease
Liver disease, such as liver failure, cirrhosis, hepatitis, or liver tumors
Kidney disease, including kidney failure (renal failure)
Diabetes
Gallbladder disease
Uterine fibroids
Yellowing of the whites of the eyes or skin (jaundice) during a prior pregnancy or estrogen use
Any allergies, including allergies to drugs, foods, preservatives, or dyes.

Also, let your healthcare provider know if you:

Are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
Are breastfeeding
Have an upcoming surgery
Smoke cigarettes.

Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about any other medicines you are taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
