Estratest Side Effects
Based on general experience with similar estrogen and testosterone medications, irregular vaginal bleeding, headaches, and breast tenderness are some of the side effects that may occur with Estratest. Most problems will likely be minor, but serious reactions are possible, such as allergic reactions, virilization, or migraines; these should be reported to a healthcare provider.

Just like any medicine, Estratest® (esterified estrogens/methyltestosterone) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes the medicine will experience problems. In fact, most women tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.

For many medications, the prescribing information carefully details the exact percentage of side effects that were seen in clinical trials. However, the prescribing information for almost all older medications, including Estratest, includes only vague side effect information, with no percentages provided. Therefore, it can be difficult to know how common or how rare the side effects of such medications may be.
Based on general experience with similar estrogen and testosterone medications, the following Estratest side effects may be possible:
- Headaches
- Breast tenderness
- Irregular vaginal bleeding or spotting
- Abdominal (stomach) cramps or bloating
- Nausea and vomiting
- Hair loss
- High blood pressure (hypertension)
- High blood sugar (hyperglycemia)
- Fluid retention
- Enlargement of benign tumors of the uterus (uterine fibroids)
- Vaginal yeast infections
- Acne
- High cholesterol
- Changes in sex drive (libido).
