Estrace Vaginal Cream

Estrace Vaginal Cream is a prescription hormone replacement therapy medication. It is used to treat vaginal menopause symptoms such as vaginal dryness, itching, or burning. Estrace Vaginal Cream is inserted vaginally using a special applicator; it is generally used daily but may eventually be cut back to three times weekly. Potential side effects of the medication include nausea or vomiting, headaches, and breast tenderness.

 

What Is Estrace Vaginal Cream?

Estrace® Vaginal Cream (estradiol vaginal cream) is a prescription medication that contains an estrogen hormone. It is used to treat dryness, itching, and burning in and around the vagina, usually in postmenopausal women. The medication is inserted vaginally (using a special applicator).

How Does Estrace Vaginal Cream Work?

Estrace Vaginal Cream contains estradiol, the main estrogen hormone produced by the ovaries before menopause. It helps to relieve menopausal symptoms by replacing the estradiol that the ovaries no longer produce. It is a good alternative to hormone replacement therapy taken by mouth, especially in women who only have vaginal menopausal symptoms. It should be noted that a significant amount of Estrace Vaginal Cream is absorbed into the bloodstream, and many of the risks associated with oral estrogen hormone replacement therapy are expected to occur with Estrace Vaginal Cream as well.
