Estrace Vaginal Cream Interactions Explained
The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when

Barbiturate Medications
Barbiturates may cause your liver to metabolize the hormones in

Because Estrace Vaginal Cream acts directly on the vaginal tissues and is absorbed into the bloodstream without passing through the liver first (which happens with oral medications), this interaction is probably not significant.

Grapefruit Juice
Grapefruit juice may decrease the ability of your body to metabolize Estrace Vaginal Cream, leading to high levels of Estrace Vaginal Cream in the body. This may increase the risk of Estrace Vaginal Cream side effects.
Protease Inhibitors
Protease inhibitors may decrease the ability of your liver to metabolize Estrace Vaginal Cream, leading to high levels of Estrace Vaginal Cream in the body. This may increase the risk of Estrace Vaginal Cream side effects. Check with your healthcare provider before combining Estrace Vaginal Cream with a protease inhibitor.
